Russian On Percussion began his musical journey in 1986, first studying classical piano for 10 years, a natural progression then led him towards jazz and funk music , and later to hand percussion and drums in 1995.

Russian has performed at venues all around Brisbane and aus, including Press Club, Chalk Hotel, G.P.O, and Zuri over the last 10 years. Holding a 8 year Percussion residency @ Family nightclub, he is now a weekly resident @ Cloudland Brisbane. He has performed at countless Australian Festivals, including Good Vibrations, Falls Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Parklife, summer field days, Island Vibe, Greenfest , Sydney Festival & Playground Weekender.

During the last 15 years, he has performed/collaborated with countless artists/producers from Australia and abroad, including supports for Moloko, Derrick Carter, Reggie Watts, Bamboos, Crazy p . He also had the opportunity to perform drums/percussion with Nouvelle Vague and the Cuban brothers on their recent Australian tour.

His own compositions have had previous releases on JJJ’s Groove Train cd, Hemisphere, The H Foundation’s Environments cd, Beach Suite and his latest solo offering “Bathing in Goodness”, released in late 08, has been receiving rave reviews for it’s song writing charm and warm/vintage qualities.
